Could a population of identical organisms undergo natural selection why or why not

The answer is no.
This is because for natural selection to act on a feature, there must be variation (differences between organisms) for that feature.  Natural selection is defined as the differential survival and reproduction of individuals due to their differences. Also, these differences have to be heritable.
