Complete the solution of the equation. find the value of y when x equals -14 -2x + 5y = 8

To find the value of y, you must isolate it.

-14 -2x + 5y = 8
+14                +14

-2x + 5y = 22
+2x          +2x

5y = 2x + 22

Divide 5 on both sides of the equation.

y = 0.40x + 4.4 is the answer.
