    Ink is not the same as a colored light beam (which together forms white). Pigments - whether they are on an apple or carrying a pen - can absorb or reflect light. A black ink absorbs all colors, causing blackness.

     When mixing paints of the same colors on a white surface, the spot where they meet absorbs light and does not let any color escape. There the screen goes black.
