What effects do currents have on objects in the ocean

If an object gets caught up in a current, it can be transported long distances, sometimes even across the ocean to another continent. This has happened before.

Currents are masses of water that flow in certain directions, depending on the tides, earth's rotation, salinity, etc.


The most important effect a current will have on an object will be transport. Currents are many times strong enough to take tons of objects the direction they go.
