What might a government be like in which the executive or judicial branch was supreme rather than the legislature?

it would be more authoritarian, checks n balances keep each branch of government in check from becoming to powerful, if executive is supreme than there is dictatorship, if judicial is supreme then I can't say because I do not know of many societies in which a judicial system is supreme over executive and legislation
