If M is the midpoint, MN = 1/2×LN.

... (x+6) = (1/2)×(5x+6)

... 2x +12 = 5x +6 . . . . . . multiply by 2

... 6 = 3x . . . . . . . . . . . . . subtract 2x+6

... 2 = x . . . . . . . . . . . . . . divide by 3

MN = x+6 = 2+6

MN = 8
