The slope of a line is given by the equation:
(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

In this question: y2=8, y1=-6, x2=-1, and x1=5. Plug in and solve:
(8- -6)/(-1-5)
14/-6
7/-3

The answer is -7/3.

Hope this helps!!
