- 10x + 6y = 22 → (3)

add (2) and (3) term by term

- 8x = 8 ( divide both sides by - 8 )

x = - 1

substitute x = - 1 into either (1) or (2) and solve for y

(1) : - 5 - 3y = - 11 ( add 5 to both sides )

- 3y = - 6 ( divide both sides by - 3 )

y = 2

solution is (- 1, 2 )
