The answer is 18.  You would have to use the order of operations to get your answer.  Remember, the order of operations can be remembered as PEMDAS (Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally) Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction.  Hope this helps!
