The currency used in some countries of Central Africa is similar to that of A. France. This currency is the Central African CFA Franc wherein CFA stands for "Coopération financière en Afrique centrale". This replaced the region's former currency, the French Equatorial African franc, and was retained after the countries gained their independence from France.
