A train travels at a speed of 30 mph and travel a distance of 240 miles. How long did it take the train to complete it's journey?

To find the answer we can create simple proportion
30 mph mean that train travels 30 miles per hour, so
30 ----------1
240 ---------x
Cross multiplying:
[tex]x= \frac{240*1}{30}=8[/tex] hours
The answer is 8 hours.
