As a scientist, one of the most important skills you need is to be able to communicate your thoughts and reasoning in writing. We will be working on growing those skills over the course of this semester. First, though, I need to collect data on where you are with your academic writing skills so I know what you need to work on. That way I won't spend time focusing on anything that you are already a rockstar at!

Why is it important for scientists to gather information before they begin to work on a problem?
Scientists need to gather information on a problem before solving it because it they don't gather the required information then they will end up with incorrect solutions for the problem.
