What does the macrophages do when it can’t handle its job?

If macrophages can't perform their work again I think they'll die and if they die :

All its components will be consumed so u won't be able to see the dead body of a cell and it's leftovers are made available to the tissue which contains the particular macrophage. For example if hassals cell die they'll provide raw material to the thymus.
