5 − 2k = –2k

~Subtract 5 to both sides

5 - 5 - 2k = -2k - 5

~Simplify

-2k = -2k - 5

~Add 2k to both sides

-2k + 2k = -2k + 2k - 5

~Simplify

0 ≠ -5
