The Buddha was a beacon of hope and a figure that people wanted to learn from we know that because many of them left there family's to become monks which have a strict code of conduct we also know they were devoted since after the hun invasion was pushed back there were hundreds of monasteries that were rebuilt so they must have cared a great deal about this person.
