- First multiply 1/3 times 1/6  across giving you 1/18

-then get the LCD of 5/9 and 1/18 which is 18
 multiply 5/9 times 2/2 to get 10/18.

-Now you can subtract
  10/18- 1/18 = 9/18

-further simplify by diving the top and bottom of 9/18 by 9
 the answer would be =1/2

*Note: you do not need to get the LCD of a fraction when multiplying or dividing. You DO need the LCD when adding or subtracting a fraction.
