6 > 3.5 > 2& 1/2 > [tex] \frac{3}{4} [/tex]

First, we look at the whole number, 6 is greater than 3 and 2 right?  Then it is the biggest.

Then, 3 is bigger than 2, so 3 is the next one.

What is left is 2 and [tex] \frac{3}{4} [/tex], [tex] \frac{3}{4} [/tex] doesn't have a whole number, meaning it is less than 1.  So 2 is greater than 1, 2 is the next one.
