The slope formula for two points (x₁, y₁) and (x₂, y₂) is the "rise" of the line,
y₂ - y₁, over the "run" of the line, x₂ - x₁. So the formula for our two points
(2, 6) and (4, 12) will be:

(12 - 6)/(4 - 2)

6/2
