Let f(x) = (2 - x)/(2 + x). By definition of the derivative,

[tex]\displaystyle f'(x)=\lim_{h\to0}\frac{f(x+h)-f(x)}h[/tex]

[tex]\displaystyle f'(x)=\lim_{h\to0}\frac{\frac{2-(x+h)}{2+(x+h)}-\frac{2-x}{2+x}}h[/tex]

[tex]\displaystyle f'(x)=\lim_{h\to0}\frac{\frac{(2-x-h)(2+x)-(2-x)(2+x+h)}{(2+x+h)(2+x)}}h[/tex]

[tex]\displaystyle f'(x)=\lim_{h\to0}\frac{-4h}{h(2+x+h)(2+x)}[/tex]

[tex]\displaystyle f'(x)=-4\lim_{h\to0}\frac1{(2+x+h)(2+x)}=\boxed{-\frac4{(2+x)^2}}[/tex]
