There are 100 centimeters in a meter. So 175 cm = 1.75 meters.
Therefore Joe has a longer rope.

John has 1.7 meters. Since there are 100 cm in a meter, John has 170 cm.
 (1.7 times 100)=170
Joe has 175 cm.
175>170 cm.
