the standard form is:

[tex](y-k)^{}=4p(x-h)^2[/tex]

the vertex is (h,k)

if the quadratic function is not in the standard form we get

[tex]f(x)=ax^2+bx+c[/tex]

the vertex is:

[tex](-\frac{b}{2a},f(-\frac{b}{2a}))[/tex]

and the symmetry axis is

[tex]x=-\frac{b}{2a}[/tex]
