Given the equation 2x + 4 = 4x − 2, select the reasoning that correctly solves for x.

Simple algebra solves this equation.

2x + 4 = 4x - 2
     + 2        + 2

2x + 6 = 4x
-2x        -2x

6 = 2x

x = 3
