A car is driven 80 km west and then 30 km south. What is the displacement of the car?

For this you need the pythagorean theorem.
80^2+30^2=x^2
or solving for x:
x=[tex] \sqrt{80 ^{2} +30^{2}} [/tex]
x=85.44
