I'm assuming that your job is to find the number.

(3/5)x - 7 = -36
Add 7 to both sides:  (3/5)x = -29

Then x = -29 div. by (3/5).
          -29          -29       5         -145
x = - -------- =  ------- * -----   = --------
             3              1       3             3
           ---
             5
