A dry adiabetic lapse rate is the rate of change in temperature in a rising or descending unsaturated air parcel which is approximately 9.8°c per 1000 meters (1 km). Adiabetic process does not involves transfer of heat between the surroundings and a system, the compression in the system results to warming and expansion results in cooling.
