Hammurabi's Code is an ancient code of Law, from Babylon. It was created around 1750 BCE. The code is attributed to the ruler of Babylon, Hammurabi, who ruled between the first half of 18th Century BCE.

It contains a list of laws, such as the retaliation for murder or theft.

It is important because it gives us an insight about life of people very long time ago, as it was one of the first written texts of this length and the second oldest law text that we have found.
