Why wasn't the Republic of Ireland invaded (by either side) in WW2?

Because the Republic of Ireland was independent and neutral throughout the conflict, no side had any reason to invade it. Furthermore, the Republic of Ireland did not pose a strategically important destination or goal for any side which made the desire to invade it even weaker.
