Write the equation of a line that is perpendicular to y= -1 and that passes through the points (8,-4).

y = -1 is recognizable as the equation of a HORIZONTAL line.  A line perpendicular to this line would have the form x = c.

Since this perp. line passes thru (8, -4), let's take x to be 8.

The desired equation is x = 8.
