[tex]y = -x-1[/tex]
[tex]y=x+5[/tex]

Then,

[tex]y=y[/tex]
[tex]-x-1 = x+5[/tex]
[tex]-x-x = 5+1[/tex]
[tex]-2x = 6[/tex]
[tex]x= \frac{6}{-2} [/tex]
[tex]x=-3[/tex]

So now, we merely have to calculate y.

[tex]y=-(-3) - 1 [/tex]
[tex]y=3-1[/tex]
[tex]y=2[/tex]
